Flash Firmware

This section covers a few methods to flash firmware onto your Maca2.

Sysupgrade

Connect into Maca2 and download the binary image to RAM under /tmp. (Alter your username, IP and path to match your binary image location)

scp root@192.168.1.254:/home/tester/openwrt-8devices-maca-sysupgrade.bin /tmp/

Perform upgrade procedure with configuration reset (Does not reset roboconf):

sysupgrade -n /tmp/openwrt-8devices-maca-sysupgrade.bin

Perform upgrade procedure without configuration reset:

sysupgrade /tmp/openwrt-8devices-maca-sysupgrade.bin

Memory technology device

This is an alternative firmware upgrade method that also begins by copying the firmware image into RAM.

scp root@192.168.1.254:/home/tester/openwrt-8devices-maca-sysupgrade.bin /tmp

Before updating, we must check which boot we are on:

fw_printenv active

If active is equals to 1, execute the following:

mtd -r write /tmp/openwrt-8devices-maca-sysupgrade.bin firmware2

If active is equals to 2, execute the following:

mtd -r write /tmp/openwrt-8devices-maca-sysupgrade.bin firmware1
